Discover the cultural heritage of Angles-sur-l’Anglin.
This small rural village, on the borders of the Poitou, Berry and Tourraine regions, is rightly considered to be amongst the Most Beautiful Villages of France. From its promontory, it looms over the river Anglin, from where it takes its name.
Facing the village, the remains of Angles’ medieval fortress sits in a spectacular position, dominating the Anglin River from atop its limestone cliff.
But Angles’ heritage holds other hidden treasures, such as the natural rock shelter at Roc-aux-Sorciers which is adorned with prehistoric carvings. A replica of this is open to the public in the Discovery Centre just a few hundred metres from the fortress.
